Weekend Recap

This weekend was prefect. All Saturday it was said many, many time just how prefect the day was. The exact kind of summer day I want to have again and again.

Friday, we hit up the annual Ottawa Bluesfest to see the Zac Brown Band. They were amazing and a great kick-off to the weekend. Biggest decision was what pair of cowboy boots to wear. Tough life – I know.

Saturday was spend almost entirely in the pool, followed by another trip to Bluesfest. This time to catch the Dixie Chicks.

Highlight of the night – having the opportunity to get this close to the stage!

I hope your weekend was filled with lots of relaxing and fun too!

Welcome Back

Blend

So do you ever have those weeks, months when there is so much happening you literally feel like if you add one more thing to the ‘to do’ list you will end up curled up in a ball.

Ya – that’s been life for all of June. But I missed you, so I am back!

Thank you for being patient and checking in even when I had check out.

Friday Favs

Happy Friday!

Did you see Who What Wear just launched a new website for the home – Domaine. Not only do they have an amazing content, they staged Glee’s Leah Michele’s house in under 5 hours. The results are beautiful. Here are a few of my fav images.

The Beauty Files – Bronzer

I feel like bronzer has gotten a bad rep lately. Maybe it is because of a certain group of Seaside characters on tv, who apply a little too much and turned a little too orange. Or women just don’t know how to use it properly. Whatever the reason, I think it is a must and should be a staple for pale ladies like myself.

Finding the right shade for you is a must. I would stay away from any that seem really orange or that contain glitter. Neither is a good look.

The Beauty Files - Bronzer

1. Bobbi Brown – Bronzing Powder $44.00 (light tan colour)
2. Benefit – Hoola Bronzing Powder $28.00
3. Sephora Pro Angled Blush Brush $38.00

I think one of Bronzer’s most important uses is contouring your face. It is a great tool to create the illusion of higher cheek bones, or a thinner face. That’s why I love this Sephora brush.

After I apply a small amount of bronzer all over my face and neck (super important to make sure it is blended) I use an angled brush to create the letter E on my face. Starting under my cheek bone I swipe back towards my hairline and follow it up to my forehead. I repeat the same thing down under my chin.

It helps give your face some definition and make it look thinner then it might actually be! Here are some good resources that explain more what I mean:

Good luck!

Friday Fav’s

Happy Friday friends! Who’s ready for the weekend? I know I am! Here are a few things that captured my interest this week:

Have you heard of make-up artist Lisa Eldridge?

Lisa Eldridge

I stumbled upon her website a few days ago and can. not. stop. watching! Her entire video series on foundation is super informative and covers so much that I always wanted to know. Plus she is British, so I instantly believe everything she tells me.

I originally saw this picture on Brunch at Saks and I knew I had to see more.

I love the white subway tile with the darker grout and the way it plays nicely off the dark wood mirror frames. Just. love.

After I forgot to make a green smoothie for breakfast one morning this week, I stopped in and tried Juice Monkey.

I had the Vita-Monkey and it was really good! I still think I would continue to make a version of this at home (mainly because the cost) but it is nice to know that in a pinch I have a health breakfast option close by!

Home Tour – Cupcakes and Cashmere

Two questions for you:
1) Have you heard of Cupcakes and Cashmere?
2) Have your heard of Style Me Pretty‘s new lifestyle site?

I would imagine your answer to both of those questions is “oh heck yes”, but if not, you are in for a treat. I have been a long time follower of C&C, blogger Emily Schuman. Style Me Pretty recently did a home tour of her lovely Los Angeles home. Here are a few of my favourites.

EM - Dinning roomSourceI love their custom-made table, they picked all the reclaimed wood themselves.

EM - Fireplace

Source – The natural light in their space is fantastic.

Those are just a few of my favourite’s, you should head on over to Style Me Pretty Living to see more.

PS: Did you know Lark & Linen’s Jacquelyn Clark is a writer for Style Me Pretty Living. Her blog is another of my favourite’s!

#EarthDay – Healthy home

Happy Earth Day everyone! I love today because it reminds me to take a step back and re-evaluate what products and practices I do, which could be hurting our environment.

Lately I have been trying to switch out all our cleaning supplies for more earth-friendly options. My favourite?

mrs meyers Countertop-Spray

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Countertop Spray

I use it in the kitchen every night after dinner, for a quick wipe down’s in the bathroom and on coffee tables, doorhandles, etc. I love the smell, it’s fresh and clean to me. The whole line is amazing.

I also love a new store in Ottawa called Terra 20.

terra20-live

Terra 20 is Ottawa’s largest one stop-shop for everything eco-friendly. It has everything from beauty, food, clothing, cleaning products and more. I can literally spend hours there.

I have pretty sensitive skin, so I am taking baby steps when trying to change my beauty routine to a more natural lines. Anyone have any recommendations I should try?

Happy Earth Day!

Friday Fav’s

Well it’s been a long week. Compared to everything that happened in Boston this week and right now, my Friday Fav’s seem way more trivial then normal.

I did find the picture below of One King’s Lane co-founder’s sisters kitchen and it is a dream. I just want to sip a cup of tea at that island with all my family and friends gathered close around.

Enjoy your weekend!

The Beauty Files – Spring Polish

Today I have rounded up my favourite nail polishes for spring! I love going a little lighter and a little brighter then I normally would in the winter.

The Beauty Files - Spring Polish

Chanel – Fracas – Great for your toes, especially when they peep out from your sandals
Essie maximillian strasse her – I love colour’s like this for my hands
Butter 2013 Spring line – This entire line is amazeballs
Deporah Lippmann Rockin’ Robin – Love the sparkle
OPI You’re Such a BudaPest – Normally wouldn’t go for this colour but something about it is awesome

Do you have a spring go-to?

Room of the Week

I am going to be a little selfish on this week’s Room of the Week because it is my own. We are in desperate need of a new couch (and chair, coffee tables, media stand…). We want to tackle it one piece at a time, keeping in mind the feeling we want. Here are some of the top contenders:

Sofa Options

Jackson Sofa – West Elm – Dunham Sofa – West Elm – Madeo Sofa – Urban Barn – Verano Sofa – Crate and Barrel

As you can tell – we are going for either a dark grey or a navy blue. Ultimately we would like a nice leather chair.

Do you have a sofa you are in love with? Or a review on any of these?
